Analysing A Music Magazine 1

The color in this magazine, is dark, but that is good, because the background is black and also Cheryl Cole has red lipstick on, so the red and the black go together and so does the white writing. It is simple and plain, but it does stand out and they do go together.
The image is perfect as it stands out and so does the Masthead, but it would have been better if the Masthead was at the back of Cheryl Cole's head, because now the masthead is overlapping on Cheryl's forehead, which looks as if it is in the way. Adding to this, the main image relates a lot to pop music, because Cheryl Cole is a pop artist and even people that do not listen to pop music know that it is a pop music magazine, because the whole of the U.K. have heard of her and seen her. The target audience is mainly for young people, because Cheryl Cole's music is aimed for young people and her picture on the front cover relates to the target audience being young people, more than pop music lovers, because they could be old and probably not that fascinated in Cheryl as young people are. Also, there are strap lines on the magazine, which on the right look as if they are bunched up together and there is a lot of writing.
The magazine is called Q as i have established above. However, even though the image relates to the target audience as young people, the name does not. I get a sense when i read the title that it s more for people that are old, because the name is not striking, its does not say to me that its fun and for young people. Also, the name Q seems to me to be boring, but the only exciting bit is to read about Cheryl Cole, but the rest of the magazine is boring, and thats true as the magazine also has stories and pictures of U2, Paul Weller, the White Stripes, John Lennon etc.
The typeface is really, really bold on the strap lines, which makes the magazine look a bit horrific, if that makes sense, which looks unprofessional, gothic and boring However, on the right the typeface for those strap lines are jumbbled up together and that makes the strap line look messy and unprofessional. However, on the kiker the type face is okay. It makes the magazine, look more professional and striking. It also makes the audience want to read more about what Q have written about Cheryl.
The copy has been placed nearly everywhere on the magazine, at the bottom, centre, left and right. The size is big, which is good for the kiker and the masthead as they stand out. However, on the sraplines, the copy is too small and too big, which makes the magazine look unprofessional and messy. It is very important for the copy to be right as it will change he whole of the magazine. It will make it look professional, attractive and striking.
